Purification of the Soul is a resource for anyone who wants to develop a deeper connection with their Creator.

Why do we need a deeper connection with our Creator?

We began our existence in the Realm of Souls where we testified that Allah ﷻ was our Lord, and when we die, we will go back to Him. Whether we are received by Allah ﷻ in a state of contentment, will depend on how aware and connected we were with Him during our life, up to and including our time of death.

Where does Tazkiya fit in this picture?

Throughout our life we need to constantly work to establish, maintain, improve, and deepen our connection with Allah ﷻ . We cannot do this alone, so He sent us His beloved Prophet ﷺ as an example of the most sublime character. As is stated multiple times in the Qur’an, the Prophet ﷺ was sent to “recite His revelations to them, to make them grow spiritually [tazkiya] and teach them the Scripture and wisdom” (62:2).

Is Tazkiya the same as Purification of the Soul?

The second pillar of the Prophet’s mission ﷺ, spiritual growth (tazkiya), is what we have chosen to focus on here. The more formal term Tazkiyat-un-Nafs is usually translated as Purification of the Soul. Join us in this journey as we travel together towards Allah ﷻ by loving Him and his Prophet ﷺ.
